– Assess public opinion of the formation of a republican state, which would unify all territories of “Euskal Herria” (i.e. North Basque Country, the Basque Autonomous Community and Nafarroa) .

– Identify the underlying motivating factors (e.g. economic, political, social ) that might be the basis of public attitudes or positions (both those in favour and against, as well as those who are not sure)

– Ascertain the terms or concepts which might gain the most public support (e.g. Basque State vs. Basque Republic, Basque vs. Basque-Navarrese etc)

– Measure the extent to which territorial sovereignty contributes to the sovereignty of the region as a whole

– Characterise social/demographic origin of the aforementioned attitudes and opinions.

Groundbreaking

Naziometroa is the only barometer of its kind, as it aims to measure and analyse solely the opinions of the Basque people on sovereignty and related issues.

On a national scale

Naziometroa is a national barometer, encompassing all Basque territories and administrative regions. Together with measurement at national and country-level, it will also serve to measure sovereignty by region.

Regular and ongoing

To date, surveys and research on the desire for sovereignty have been sporadic. Naziometroa seeks to address the matter with a level of frequency which ensures an understanding of trends in public opinion over time.
